Laura Cornejo (she/her) is a freelance contemporary dancer, teacher, and artist. Originally from São Paulo, Brazil, she started dancing at a young age, joining Escola de Dança de São Paulo in 2007, where she trained in classical ballet, modern and contemporary dance, as well as traditional Brazilian dance. After graduating, Laura moved to Switzerland in 2016 to join Ballet Junior de Genève, a pre-professional company. There, she stayed for three years, supported by the Bourses Inverni-Desarzens scholarship, and performed works from several renowned choreographers, including Hofesh Shechter, Alexander Ekman, Maguy Marin, Sharon Eyal, Emanuel Gat, and Jan Martens. During her time with the company, Laura performed in notable pieces, including Ohad Naharin’s “Decadence” and Shahar Binyamini’s “Ballroom” in Austria. In 2020, she moved to Berlin and has been freelancing since 2021. Since then, Laura has performed works in Germany, Sweden, and Denmark, collaborating with various choreographers. In addition to her contemporary dance background, Laura completed the Xpert Fitness Pole Instructor Certification Course (Pole 1 and 2) in 2024 and has been training in pole since 2021, practicing in several different studios. She has a passion for merging her previous dance knowledge with pole dance, focusing on breathing, body awareness, and pleasure in movement.
